Rory Culkin (MEAN CREEK) stars in the coming-of-age drama LYMELIFE. Set in 1970s Long Island, the film has a WONDER YEARS feel with its friendly spats between brothers and a major crush on the all-American girl next door. As 15-year-old Scott, Culkin shares the screen with real-life brother Kieran Culkin, whose character, Jimmy, is just returning home on a break from the army. While Scott pines for his best friend, Adrianna (Emma Roberts), his family slowly unravels all around him. Alec Baldwin delivers a predictably solid performance as Scott’s meandering, sometimes heartless dad, but this role feels quite similar to ones we’ve seen him play in the past. Jill Hennessy is well-cast as Scott’s weary mother, as are Cynthia Nixon playing against type as a ditzy housewife, and Timothy Hutton as her Lyme-diseased husband.

Aspect Ratio: 1.33:1 Number of discs: one Rated: PG-13 (Parental Guidance Suggested) Studio: Warner Home Video DVD Release Date: June 17, 1997 Run Time: 104 minutes Editorial Reviews Call this “The Odd Couple Goes to the White House.” Jack Lemmon and James Garner play ex-presidents in this lousy comedy, each of them having served only 1 term as chief executive and each the other’s lifelong enemy. The best jokes in the film are front-loaded into the 1st five minutes. We meet both men living life after the White House, 1 (Lemmon) making speeches for whoever will front his large fee, while the other (Garner) writes relevant books no 1 reads. Any time they show up at the same function, they insult each other like snarling schoolboys.
IMAX – Lost Worlds: Life in the Balance (DVD, 2002)
Editorial Reviews IMAX’s Lost Worlds is 1 of the large-format company’s more ambitious productions. Inspired by Edmund O. Wilson’s The Diversity of Life and taking its name from Arthur Conan Doyle’s , it’s a lively, yet thoughtful illustration of biodiversity that combines rare nature footage with well-integrated CGI effects and scientific inquiry (from biologists to schoolchildren). Actor Harrison Ford, convinced to participate because of his passion for environmental issues, narrates in a likeably laconic manner. Lost Worlds was filmed on location in Guatemala, Quebec, New York, California, and Venezuela, and the sequence set among the last’s table-top mountains–particularly the alien terrain of Mount Roraima and breathtaking Angel Falls–is the highlight (and also the inspiration behind Conan Doyle’s novel).
